FRAUNHOFER IVV

Fraunhofer IVV develops products and processes primarily in the area of food development, food quality, food safety and functional materials. The institute has a permanent staff ob about 180 persons from various fields such as food chemistry, food technology, process engineering and packaging technology. More than 4000 m² of laboratories and technical facilities with highly sophisticated equipments are available. Including pilot plants for development and processing of polymer films for packaging applications. Concerning biogenic raw materials IVV has many years experience in using modified starches and plant proteins for non food applications like barrier coating. One field of expertise of the Fraunhofer IVV is the development and optimisation of food packages with a special focus on the requirements of the food product. For this reason a test centre was built with new packaging and analytical equipment to do packaging experiments and simultaneously measurements on the quality changes of the food.
